India’s Shaili Singh won a silver medal in the women’s long jump at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi with a better effort of 6.59m. He came close to winning the gold medal, missing just 0.01m, while Maja Askag of Sweden won it with a better effort of 6.60m. Mariia Horielova of Ukraine took home the bronze medal. It was India’s second medal – and the third in total – in this year’s U20 Championship.
Shaili Singh started with a double jump of 6.34m before leading the third round of jumps with his 6.59m effort. However, Askag jumped 6.60 in his fourth attempt to win the gold medal with very few marks.

शैली सिंह ने ६.३४ मीटर की दोहरी छलांग के साथ शुरुआत की और ६.५९ मीटर के प्रयास से तीसरे दौर की छलांग लगाई। हालांकि, अस्काग ने बहुत कम अंकों के साथ स्वर्ण पदक जीतने के अपने चौथे प्रयास में 6.60 की छलांग लगाई।
