The Union Territory of Ladakh will host the ice sports (Ice Hockey & Ice Skating) while J&K will stage the snow sports (Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing, Ski Mountaineering, and Snowboarding)
- Khelo India Winter Games 2025 will feature ice events in Ladakh from January 23-27 and snow events in J&K from February 22-25.
- The Winter Games will start the Khelo India season, followed by Youth & Para Games in Bihar in April 2025.
- The Khelo India Winter Games began in 2020 with 1,000 participants and have seen growing participation each year.
- Over 1,200 participants, including 700+ athletes, competed in the 2024 edition of the Games.
- The 2024 Games marked the first time they were managed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports Authority of India, and sports federations.
- UT Ladakh is hosting a part of the Winter Games for the second consecutive year, after its successful hosting in 2024.
- The Games aim to identify top athletes for the 2026 Winter Olympics, says Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.
- The government seeks to promote winter sports and boost participation from remote Himalayan villages.
