The ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has implemented the “Pension and Meritorious Sportspersons” scheme for Indian sportsperson who have won medals in Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and World Cups/World Championships and Paralympics Games.
Benefit: Sportsperson will get a lifelong monthly pension after they attain the age of 30 years or retire from active sports.
Monthly Pension: Rs 12000/- to Rs. 20000/-.
Number sportsperson availed benefit of this scheme: 627.
Another scheme: Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay National Welfare Funds for Sportsperson (PDUNWFS), for the sportsperson living in indigent condition or those who require medical treatment.
